There is a variety of signs of anxiety attacks that may prove to be crippling to the individual. Like in panic attacks, they come when you least expect it and sometimes leave you at its mercy. Therefore, it is necessary to be aware of these signs of anxiety and discover its link to your body’s typical reactions in order to facilitate recovery and proper documentation of it especially in the course of treatment. Again, participation in treatment by way of communication is necessary. Likewise, finding the cause of such attacks is the main goal.
The symptoms of anxiety can be divided into the physical and emotional aspect – both of which are equally undesirable. One of the most presented emotional signs of anxiety is fear of dread. It often comes with an overwhelming surge of panic for oftentimes-unknown reasons. With panic, trouble concentrating and irritability comes into picture. The client may exhibit a sense of being always tense and jumpy even at the most normal situations. Other emotional signs of anxiety include feeling the worst is going to happen or the mind going blank, restlessness and of course, excessive worry.
The physical signs of anxiety are exhibited by the body’s response towards the stressor. The most common is trembling or shaking. The body goes into a trance-like state with it shaking uncontrollably. Pounding heart is one of the classical signs of anxiety. It normally comes in the feeling of impending doom or intense danger for oneself or family with no apparent reason at all. Other physical signs of anxiety include shortness of breath, frequent urination and diarrhea, fatigue, insomnia and even muscle twitches and tension.
It is necessary to be aware of the signs of anxiety because it can affect even the healthiest of people. Although, the proven way towards treatment is to seek medical or professional help, having it known will leave your family or yourself prepared when anxiety attacks. Certain precautionary measures can also be implemented most especially when it happens away from home thereby reducing risks of injury.
